Where did summer go?

Well, here it is, August. Where did summer go? We have mowed the yard, watered, and babysat. I have driven my mom to the big city 4 times, and gone to work everyday. Hmmm? When is my vacation? Where did I go?

I've played in the sprinkler with my grandson. I have read books. I have spent time with an old friend. I have enjoyed sitting in my yard.

Life in my home is the best way to spend summer. I love my home. I love my family. Summer has been good.

Remind me next Christmas

Next Christmas, we will not spend so much. We will buy a family gift for the kids and maybe one or two for the grandkid. We will eat at my mother in law's house whether or not the deadbeats are there.

Christmas 09

I am thankful for my immediate family. My daughter, husband, soninlaw, and most of all, my grandson, Ayden. May we have a blessed and happy new year.

December 19, 2009

Well, I have baked 8 dozen cookies, and 6 cranberry nut breads. I still need to ice 3 dozen sugar cookies. I am tired of Christmas. Tomorrow we babysit Ayden. Paul and Ayden are going to put together Ayden's battery powered 4 wheeler. He will have so much fun with Grandpa. Monday is Paul's 62nd birthday. God we are old. Where did the time go?

Friday with Ayden. We went to the bone cracker to work on my shoulder. Ayden just jabbered and jabbered. What a good boy.

The wind is ripping through town today. I suppose it will blow in some clouds and snow. Already 27 degrees. Nice day if it were a little warmer.

I think I will have him Saturday and Sunday, too.

I went over my Christmas list and still need a couple of 100 dollars to finish. Don't have any stocking stuffers either.

I'm just not very imaginative. My friend, Carrie, went to the dollar store and picked up several really cute things for a 12 year old's birthday party favors. I went and just saw junk.

Christmas day is settled. It will be at my daughter's. I will bring cinnamon rolls and a breakfast casserole. My son-in-law is cooking prime rib and chicken fettuccine. I know he will cook too much food. Mom will come down for breakfast. I don't know if she'll be there for dinner. She always serves at the Neighbor to Neighbor dinners on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Well pretty boring, I know. Sorry.

December 7, 2009

Well, I am having a quiet evening at home with Paul. I went to the bone cracker this afternoon. He worked on my shoulder and will again on Friday. It feels a lot better. It's been over a year since I started having trouble with it. Pinched nerves are a pain.

It is colder than a witches --- on the dark side of the moon. It was 0 when I left for work today at 7 a.m. I think it got up to 22 degrees. Man, I do not like the icy cold. We started burning wood today. Right now, I have removed my sweatshirt jacket and am comfy.

Paul is grousing because he doesn't get to go fishing tomorrow. Too cold. He is taking the Geo Metro to Baker City to have the transmission serviced.

Tomorrow is delivering to the little old ladies Tuesday. One of my little ladies was buried last week. That's the hard part. You get attached to the ladies and sometimes they don't last long. I deliver to a few 90 somethings. One I am worried about is 98 years old.

Finished the book U is for Undertow. It was good. I enjoy the abc books, hope she gets them finished before she dies or something. Waited 2 years for this one. Sue Grafton. She writes for tv too.

Had to laugh at Jamie's face book page. Ayden pooped on the floor today. He took off his diaper. I told her to quit putting diapers on him as he is 3 years old for crying out loud. He will use the toilet if he has big boy underpants on or going commando. He'll be in diapers until he's 6 at this rate.

Sunday, the 6th

Well, I am watching the food network. I watch the cooking shows all the time, but I don't cook that much anymore. Too lazy. Today, I baked some steak with cream of mushroom soup over the top. How exotic. I picked out a bunch of holiday recipes yesterday. I probably won't bake more than the pumpkin cranberry bread and maybe sugar cookies. I bought a fudge mix so maybe fudge. My mother in law is making us her brown sugar fudge. Man, that is good. I have the recipe, but it is constant stirring. I probably would scorch it. Or it will turn out sugary.

I don't feel like decorating for Christmas. Just lazy. I have so much to do, I need to clean out my 2 junk rooms and paint one. Ayden needs a bedroom. I want to pull up the carpeting in both rooms and put down wooden tile or something. If we were staying in this house, I would replace all my carpeting with hardwood floors. Then buy some area rugs for warmth. Paul would throw a fit if he knew my plans.

Well, need to check on my gourmet meal.
